摘要

随着国际贸易的增长，英语商务信函使用得愈来愈广泛。本文以合作原则和礼貌原则为理论基础，结合英语商务信函写作的一些具体特点，通过具体的信函实例来分析这二者在英语商务书信中的表现，探讨了这两个原则在英语商务信函中的应用和指导作用。并得出在商务英语信函写作中，合作原则注重信息的内容，而礼貌原则则侧重情感态度。因此，在不同场合下我们应该根据实际状况采取不同的策略，视具体情况来定侧重何种原则。希冀本文能帮助人们进一步加深对合作原则和礼貌原则的理解，以便于大家在商务沟通中能更好地解读和撰写英语商务信函。

Abstract

With the growth of the international trade, English business letter used more widely. This paper takes the Cooperative principle and politeness principle as the theoretical basis, combines with some specific characteristics of business letters and through the analysis of the performance of the two principles to show their application and guidance in the letters. It is concluded that in the English business letter writing, people more focus on the information of the content under the guidance of the Cooperative Principle. While under the guidance of the Politeness Principle, people pay more attention to the emotion and attitude. Thus different strategies should be adopted according to the actual situation. Hope this article can help people to deepen the understanding of the Cooperative Principle and the Politeness Principle and everyone can interpret and write the business letters better in business communication.

1. Introduction
International business English letter as a frequently-used contact way using in the international business intercourses, plays an important role in keeping good relationship between the companies. The status of Business English letter in the international trade is more important. So people attach great importance to how to write a more efficient business letter for communication. When it comes to this, we have to mention the Cooperative Principle and Politeness Principle. The two important theories in the linguistics, play a vital role in guiding the English business letter writing. And there is a high standard of Cooperative Principle and Politeness Principle, which is demanded in business letter for companies to achieve win-win situation in negotiation. The present work deals mainly with analysis of the utilizing of Cooperative Principle and Politeness Principle in the business letter. The general objective of the study is to show the guiding function of the two principles in business letter writing. And this thesis attempts to probe it by analyzing some examples to realize the two principles.
