摘要

《喜福会》是著名华裔女作家谭恩美的第一部长篇小说，也是她的成名作，小说描写了四位性格、命运各异的中国女性抛却国难家仇，移居美国，以及她们各自在美国出生、成长的女儿的生活经历和由于文化的差异而引起的冲突和矛盾。小说以全球化时代和美国多元化的社会为背景，呈现了四对母女由矛盾冲突到相互理解的过程，也展现了中美文化差异到逐渐融合的过程。随着全球化进程加快，美国华裔在中美交流中扮演着重要角色。本文通过对《喜福会》中母女关系及其所描写的文化差异的分析，研究华人移居美国融入美国文化的心路历程，说明在全球化背景下，应该以正确的态度对待文化差异产生的文化冲突，既不轻易否定母国文化，同时积极学习其他优秀文化，也要向世界传播真正的中国优秀传统文化。

Abstract

The Joy Luck Club is the first full-length novel of Amy Tan, a famous Chinese-American writer, and her major book. The novel describes the spiritual progress of four Chinese women with individual’s personality and destiny move to America but without national calamity or family hard, and their daughters who were born and brought up in America. And it also shows the conflict and contradiction which caused by the different culture. It is set in the age of globalization and in the multicultural American society; represents the process of conflicts and understanding between the mothers and the daughters, and shows the process of fusion of cultural difference between China and America. With the accelerated development of globalization, Chinese Americans play an important role in the communication of China and America. Through contextual analysis of the relationship between mother and daughter in The Joy Luck Club and the cultural difference in it, this paper studies that the spiritual progress of Chinese move to America and into American culture. demonstrates that in the age of globalization a right attitude towards cultural conflicts caused by culture difference should be taken, and it suggests that the Chinese culture should not be abandoned when learning from others, what’s more, it should be transmitted to all over the world.

It holds an important position in Chinese American literature, and has been adapted for film. The novel describes the spiritual process of four Chinese women with individual's personality and destiny move to America but without national calamity or family hard, and their daughters who were born and growing in America. And it also shows the conflict and contradiction which caused by the different culture. It is set in the age of globalization and in the multicultural American society; represents the process of conflicts and understanding between the mothers and the daughters, and shows the process of fusion of cultural difference between China and America. With the accelerated development of globalization, Chinese Americans play an increasingly important role in the communication of China and America.
