随着时代的发展，越来越多的人不仅注重物质的享受也注重精神文明的建设发展，书籍的阅读已经被广泛的普及。无论是青少年朋友，中年人，亦或是年逾古稀的老年人都会选择阅读书籍来汲取最新的或者最有时代代表性的知识。对于《红字》深刻含义的表达一直是人们评论的焦点。而《红字》之所以能不断引起读者尤其是青年读者的共鸣，主要是因为作者成功塑造了三个不同的人物形象，而女主人公白兰的命运被文中的两个男主角齐灵沃斯和丁姆斯戴尔影响着。在这部小说中，女主人公海丝特•白兰具有多重性格.本文将运用大量举例分析，旨在通过分析《红字》中两个男主角的各方面对比，总结出作者著作该文的目的及在创作过程中想要表达的主题。通过两个人物的对比分析，更深层次的把握整部小说的故事发展以及走向。

Abstract

With the development of the times, more and more people not only pay attention to material enjoyment, but also pay attention to the construction of spiritual civilization development. Reading books has been widely popular. Whether young friends, middle-aged, or old people all would choose to read a book to learn the latest or most representative knowledge of the era. Expression of the profound meaning of The Scarlet Letter has always been the focus of the critics. The Scarlet Letter constantly resonates with readers, especially young readers, because the author successfully creates three different perpetual images. Hester Prynne’s destiny was influenced by the two leading men, Chillingworth and Dimmesdale. She was a beautiful and brave woman with multiple personality. This article will use a lot of analysis, and through analysis of the two major heroes in The Scarlet Letter, sum up the purpose of the article and the theme which the author wants to express in the authoring process. Through the comparative analysis, we can grasp the development and trend of this story further.

Because the author created two heroes who have different characters, I choose to compare them. By comparison, the reason why the heroine would choose to be against the destiny at last is distinct.
