摘　 要

动物在我们的日常生活中随处可见，而在文学作品中，作者也常常描绘到许多动物的形象。作者通过作品中的动物形象从而表达出自己的思想感情，许多美国文学作品中的动物形象不仅仅是作者单纯的描写某种动物，同时也是作者委婉的表达自己情感的一个媒介。通过对动物形象的仔细分析和理解可以帮助我们更进一步的欣赏文学作品。在这里我列举两部具有代表性的美国文学作品中的动物形象，《老人与海》和《野性的呼唤》。《老人与海》是著名作家海明威的代表作，其中老人，马林鱼，鲨鱼等形象让读者过目不忘。《野性的呼唤》则是美国著名作家杰克•伦敦的作品。作品讲述了一条名为“巴克”的狗从文明世界最终回归了大自然的野性环境中的故事。这两篇文章都具有显著的代表性。《老人与海》代表了硬汉精神和英雄主义精神，而《野性的呼唤》则展示了现实主义与浪漫主义的完美结合。这两篇文章正是美国文学的真实写照，他们代表了美国文学的特色。通过分析两部作品中的动物形象寓意，能在很大程度上帮助我们理解这两部作品，我希望这篇文章能帮助我们理解文学作品中动物形象的寓意。

Abstract

Animals can be seen everywhere in our daily life, and also in literary works animals are often described by writers. Writers express their thoughts and feelings through the animal images. In many American literary, animal images not only mean the simple image, but also tactful ways to express their feelings. Through analysis and understanding of animal images, we can further appreciate the literary works. Here I list the animal’s image symbolic of the two representative works of American literature, The Old Man and the Sea and The Call of the Wild. The Old Man and the Sea is the famous writer Ernest Hemingway's representative work, the image of the old man, the marlin, and the shark let the reader never forget. The Call of the Wild is written by the famous American writer Jack London. It tells the story of a dog named "Buck" from the civilized world, finally return to the wild nature environment. This two works have significant representative. The Old Man and the Sea reflects the unconquerable spirit of man, and The Call of the Wild shows the perfect combination of realism and romanticism. These two articles is a reflection of American literature, they represent the characteristic of American literature. By analysis of these two works in the animal image implication can, to a great extent, help us understand these two works; and I wish that this article can help us understand the symbolic of animal images in literary works.

1 Introduction
   In daily life we can often see the animals, and also in literary works animals are often described by writers. The authors express their ideas through the works of animal image, so the analysis of the implied meaning of the animal image in literary works is very meaningful. Here I list the two representative novels in the American literature: The Old Man and the Sea, and The Call of the Wild, and have a specific analysis of the meaning of animal image in the two works.
