摘　要

通过对《理智与情感》中女主人公埃莉诺的情感分析，探讨女性如何理性对待爱情和婚姻，本文主要采用引用和对比两种方法，旨在从理性和情感两方面对埃丽诺的爱情观和婚姻观进行分析，分析19世纪英国的社会背景，埃莉诺在面临情感和社会的双重打压下的内心矛盾，以及如何用理性战胜情感，比较埃丽诺与另外两部小说中女主人公伊丽莎白和简•爱的情感 ,还包括现代女性如何正确平衡理智与情感的关系，以及理智与情感的现实意义的和对现代女性婚姻观念所产生的影响，一个理性的人意味着他凡事必须依靠理智，而不是情感, 女性的婚姻应该由自己掌控。

Abstract
 
Through the analysis of heroine’s emotion in sense and sensibility , this paper  focus on the two aspects of analyzing Elinor’s reason and emotion on concept of love and marriage, describe the social background in 19th century and Elinor’s inner contradiction when facing with love and is distressed by the cruel society as well as how women’s reason can triumph over emotion, how to deal with sense and sensibility well is also mentioned. Documental method, citing method and comparative method are mainly adopted to compare Elinor’s marriage attitude with Elizabeth and Jane Eyre’s in the other two novels, what’s more, I also analyze its realistic significance and deep influence on modern females’ marriage conception, how to properly balance between reason and emotion among modern women is also included. A rational person means that he must rely on ration rather than on emotion. Females’ marriages should be controlled by themselves.

1 Introduction
In this paper，I analyze Elinor’s inner contradiction when she faces with love and is distressed by the cruel society in sense and sensibility, and compare Elinor’s love with Elizabeth and Jane Eyre’s emotion in the other two novels, how to properly balance reason and emotion in females’ pursuing of love is also included. What’s more, I also focus on the realistic significance of females’ marriage conception in the modern society.
1.1 The purpose of this paper
With the trends of ugly fashion in British society at 19th century, a good marriage means an economic security for women, and it can help them improve their social status, although most women pursuit for it, it is the regardless of women’s feelings of human rights. The heroine of the novel pursuits of equality with men, both on exchanging and communicating thoughts and feelings, they also require the social status of equal rights, adhere to an independent observation and freedom on selecting husband. The heroine’s reaction to love is well worth learning, she has a strong feeling of love and calm examination, when choosing her love, she chose the man not with good appearance, but with good personality, Edward. Later, when facing with difficulty, she restrained her strong feelings for love, making a proper decision and won her love and happiness. Nowadays, with the emergent problem of females’ love and marriage, in order to pursuit for happiness, we females should learn to balance our reason and emotion well, we can learn a lot from Elinor’s sober mind and considerate behavior.
