摘  要

  由于英法革命运动的失败，资产阶级的反动势力更加嚣张，狄更斯对社会的认识不断深化，作品反映的社会生活也更加广阔。他着力描写小人物的善良温情和道德感化的力量，乐观主义精神已被沉重苦闷的心情和强烈的愤懑所代替。《远大前程 》是狄更斯最成熟的作品之一， 狄更斯经历了丰富的人间生活后，对人、周围环境和对自己的生活经历都有了深刻的认识，而所有他成熟的思想认识都汇总在《远大前程》一书中。 在这本书里，他以他惯有平易、幽默的笔调，叙述了少年皮普的生活经历、和心理发展，生动地展示了主人公皮普从对自己远大前程的憧憬向往到幻想破灭的整个过程。《远大前程 》给予读者的启发是任何一部作品不可匹敌的，尤其是对主人公皮普性格的塑造。 本文从小说内容出发，分析了主人公皮普的成长过程,以及心灵的逐渐成熟过程，并给予年轻一代，特别是处于寻找真正自我的年轻一代以启示，使其发现真正的自我价值。

Abstract

     For the losing of revolutionary movement, the reaction of bourgeoisie becomes more rampant. The reflection of social life on his work is broad. Charles Dickens gains a deep insight into the society. He focus on the kindness of little people、moral strength and optimists has been replaced by heavy hearts and strong cynicism. Great Expectation is one of the most mature works of Charles Dickens, he has deep understanding of people 、surroundings and his owe life after experiencing enrichment life. And all his mature thought counted in this novel. In the book, he narrates the development of young Pip by use a light and humor style. Shows Pip’s hopes for great expectation and the disillusionment of his “great expectations” vividly. The enlightenment of Great Expectation to reader no works are peerless. Especially in shape the character of Pip. This text focused on textual, analysis the development of the hero Pip and his heart come to maturity, aims at dissecting the factors that influence the maturity of Pip. Help the younger generation, especially the one that discover themselves find the value of life.

1 Introduction
  In general, this paper carries out a discussion Great Expectations which is written by Charles Dickens. It mainly describes the development of Pip’s grown-up and the disillusionment of his “great expectations”. Pip undergoes much experience. Educated by the reality he comes to realize what he pursues in the Vanity Fair is not valuable at all. He recognizes the world and becomes mature. The change of Pip’s mind has just reflected the situation of that time. Charles Dickens writes the novel to criticize the corruption of the capitalism society. The purpose and significance of this paper , Great Expectation is a representative novel and most mature work of Charles Dickens both in ideological content and the artistic form. Pip is the hero of this novel. This paper makes a profound analysis on the characteristics of the hero to reveal the undisguised money relation between people in the British Victorian age and to show the subsistent state of man of that time from low class. Not only for taking in lingual competence, but also for catching the unique cultural essence implied in the language.
