摘　要

《了不起的盖茨比》是上个世纪20年代美国著名作家菲茨杰拉德的一部反映美国梦破灭的小说,也是一本被赋予了深刻含义,充满譬喻和警句的文化史。论文中讨论的人物及其性格是为了来阐述说明人性的某些特点，此些特点也反映在同时代的中国青年上。我研究了盖茨比这本书里的主要人物及其性格缺陷，查阅网络资源，翻阅原文和其他作者对小说人物的见解。 通过分析此些人物的一系列事件，我发现当代中国年轻人也存在的浮夸风和拜金主义以及思想腐化,两者是有联系的.通过分析盖茨比同时代人的命运和生活悲剧为当代中国年轻人有此行为和想法的人敲响警钟并给与警示。

Abstract

The Great Gatsby is a marvelous novel which reflects American dream shattered and it was written by American famous writer F.Scott Fitzgerald .Meanwhile, the novel has been given the profound meaning,and I believe it is a cultural history which is fulfilled with aphorism.My paper has discussed the main characters of the Protagonists in the novel to elaborate persons’ some features which also reflect on the contemporary Chinese youth.I did some research on the main characters and their character flaws from the novel ,and viewed network resources, scrolled the original text ,and read plenty of the comments which written by other famous scholars.Though analyzing the main features’ related events ,I found that our contemporary Chinese youth also exist exaggerating, mannonism and ideological corruption. Both of them are related. By analyzing the fate and tragedy of Gatsby contemporaries’life,We should sound the alarm and give warnings to our contemporary Chinese youth who have similar behavior and ideas .

1 Introduction
   In this novel, the author described a tragedy caused by American Dream, and successfully molded a suffered figure Gatsby., I found that most of our Chinese youth had many things in common such as many experiences and spiritual virtues that are different from the comprehension and chase to American life of common people. Gatsby owned marvelous genius, incomparable resolute romantic by his own experience ,which won high praise of the author. The paper, on one hand, gives deep sympathy to Gatsby and his love story on his tragedy, on the other hand, it reminds us of that our Chinese development is similar to the background Gatsby lived.I can find out some points to warn people.The paper is analyzing the hero Gatsby’s tragedy by examining the essence of Gatsby’s dream, love story and destiny.All that happened is related on the potential destructiveness in Gatsby’s characters and social-backgrounds which were leading to Gatsby’s failure and tragedy.
