An Analysis of Views on Love in Yeats’ Poetry
Abstract
William Butler Yeats created a lot all his life. He is very successful in the field of poetries, gaining much admiration. Yeats created a great number of classic works, especially in the love poetries. All the love poetries created by Yeats was for a lady named Maud Gonne, which has become a favourite tale. People are moved by Yeats’ loyal love for Maud Gonne. From it, readers are beginning to understand the views on love in Yeats’ poetry. There is no denying that every piece of his poetry is expressing kinds of feelings in it, which is worth of appreciation.
This article gives up the traditional structure which follows the chronological order, trying to study Yeats’ views on love from deferent aspects in the concept of “views on love” and conclude it from deferent angles. As for the analysis on Yeats’ views on love, this article discusses the courtly love, which is popular abroad. Moreover, we pay attention to two contradictions, that is, lowliness and desire to be in possession, love and hate. Besides, the discussion about the platonic relationship between Yeats and Maud Gonne is an innovation point, reflected from Yeats’ experience and his love poetries.

摘        要
威廉•巴特勒•叶芝一生创作丰富，在诗歌创作上造诣颇深，备受敬仰。特别是在爱情诗的创作方面，叶芝的诗篇更堪称经典。其中，被广大读者传为佳话的是,叶芝众多的经典爱情诗几乎都是为茅德•冈一人所作,人们不禁被诗人忠贞不渝的爱情所打动,从而对叶芝的爱情诗及其中蕴含的爱情观有了更加深刻的理解。叶芝的诗篇和其中蕴含的爱情观是复杂而值得回味的，可以说每一篇都在同时表达着多种情愫于其中，值得玩味和品鉴。
本文打破了时间顺序以及一分为三的逻辑和篇章结构，从不同的角度来提炼和分析叶芝诗歌中所蕴藏的爱情观。在对爱情观的内容解读上，文章结合了国外学者所热衷探讨的骑士之爱来解读叶芝爱情观中的两对“矛盾”——骑士的卑微和强烈的占有欲、炙热而深沉的爱和求而不得的怨恨。此外，对叶芝柏拉图式的精神恋爱的分析和解读是本次研究的一个创新点，并结合叶芝与茅德•冈一波三折的感情经历和叶芝爱情诗的情感表达来进行深入讨论。
