摘 　要

《傲慢与偏见》是简•奥斯汀的经典之作。作者通过主人公伊丽莎白的视角描写出十八世纪女性不平等的社会地位和尴尬的生存环境，塑造了一个聪颖，勇敢，独立的女性形象—伊丽莎白。通过这一女性形象，作者表达了自己独特的婚恋观和女性独立的意识。本文通过对文中主要女性人物的性格进行了举例分析法，从原著《傲慢与偏见》中她们的言行上展开讨论与剖析，展现了十八世纪英国社会的女性生活的状况。同时，本文还借用了一些学者从女性角度及话语交际角度出发展开的分析，深入讨论了当时女性的生活状态以及其心理活动。在本文最后，指出本文的一些不足之处以及这本小说其他研究方向的探讨。

Abstract

Pride and Prejudice is one of Jane Austen’s representative novels. The author shows women’s unequal social states and embarrassing living conditions in the 18th century through Elizabeth’s view. Elizabeth is an independent, brave and intelligent lady, who also represents the writer’s own opinions on marriage and women’s independence consciousness. Especially, there are many female figures in this novel leaving a deep impression on every reader. This paper used the example and analysis to discuss the characters of female figures from their dialogues and behaviors which were extracted from Pride and Prejudice and showed women’s living conditions in the 18th century. Besides, this thesis also borrowed some experts study around female perspective and verbal communication, which leading a deeper discuss about female’s psychology and living condition. In the conclusion, it pointed out the limitation and made a further study about this novel.

1 Introduction
   This paper discusses the female characters in British writer - Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. We all know that Austen is famous for her novels which also bring great influence on English literature. Pride and Prejudice is set in the early nineteenth century, which is known as the Regency period. At time, the society was quite hierarchical and the class system was rigid. But in this novel, this rigid system is gradually changed into a less rigid one and the most appealing part is Elizabeth and Darcy’s love story, from change of heroine’s loathing to affection, from their misunderstanding to living in harmony, and finally concluded in a happy ending. Through reading, readers are fascinated with protagonists’ romantic story and produce a special feeling which makes people rethink the theme of LOVE. That is to say, although the plot is simple, the significance of the theme under this novel is profound. In this book, except for Miss Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy, other figures also play an important role, including their witty remarks, humorous conversations and ironic descriptions, all of which lead readers to laugh and meanwhile, think and reflect.
