摘　要

随着社会的发展和时代的进步，女性在社会中的地位以及其在社会中所扮演的角色日益重要。女性不再是依附于男性而生存的群体。从三从四德，生儿育女到登上经济与政治舞台。女性的地位发生了翻天覆地的变化，而正是女权主义的萌发促使女性日益独立。随着物质生活的提高，相应的物质女权主义思想也深入人心。许多学者对红字中的女权主义做了比较全面的分析和总结，特别对女主人公海丝特•白兰进行了透彻的描述。但是他们只是单纯研究了主人公的女权主义表现。本文结合现实社会的情况来发掘女主人公的物质女权主义思想，并运用物质女权主义的角度来诠释二十一世纪的新型女性，以此来激励女性追求自己的理想与目标。这篇论文就是运用了对比等方法通过对《红字》这篇小说的分析来解读女权主义。然后根据现实的情况及社会的发展状况和前提来研究物质女权主义。以此来鼓舞更多的女性同胞积极参与社会活动，维护自己的权益。

Abstract

With the development of the society, female plays an important role in the social life. As before, women depend on their husband, they have no freedom and no equal right with men. But there are big changes in these years. Women became more and more independent. They show in the stage of politics. With the material condition developed feminism stick into peoples mind. This paper compares the main character Hester’s feminism in the novel The Scarlet Letter, than it depended on the reality, it summarized the function of the material feminism, and its usage to women and the society. It also described the modern female in the fast developed world. Material feminism is needed by both women and society. As an essential part of the world, women is a group which lacks attention. And women’s social position is lower than men’s, so as a part of this group, there is more duty for us to undertake the responsibility to endeavor the equal right for women. Due to making great efforts of material feminism, it can inspire women to take part in the social activities. It also helps creating the harmonious society. In this paper, the material feminism is described in detail, it expounds the features of the material feminism, and it also helps people to recognize the feminism, and well understand it.

1 Introduction
 This paper will set the feminism from the material elements. Marxism said that material determines the consciousness, and the consciousness reflected the material. The feminism was a kind of consciousness which led the social movements. Female issue was a big part of our politic and economic life, and the movements to fight for the equality for the women never stopped. Compare with the different social property which reflects the feminism, and the chief reason which resulted in the material feminism.
