Abstract
Since Charlotte Bronte’s Jane Eyre was published, it has been put under the spotlight in the literary world and has attracted a great many scholars and critics to interpret it. But up to now, not many scholars have employed Derridan deconstructive thought to explore Charlotte Bronte’s real concern of gender equality and patriarchal problems in Jane Eyre. In ancient times, the impact of patriarchy is far-reaching, with men standing for “presence”, women representing “absence” which is subordinated to “presence”. This situation causes all kinds of social contradictions and women are unreasonably oppressed by men. By adopting Derridan deconstruction, this thesis has revealed binary oppositions of two genders and irrationality of androcentric society in Jane Eyre and also concluded Charlotte is a natural deconstructionist who has unconsciously deconstructed logo-centrism and overturned binary oppositions through the story of Jane Eyre.

1 Introduction
Charlotte Bronte is one of the most eminent British writers in literature world. Although Charlotte Bronte only wrote four books, the colossal success of novel Jane Eyre still makes her worldwide renowned. The unprecedented description of female’s voice as the theme of the novel makes Jane Eyre distinguished from other literary works. Jane Eyre has attracted numerous critics and scholars concentrating on the study of it and they have provided us with interpretations of the novel from different perspectives. But up to now, not many critics and scholars have adopted Derridan deconstructive theory to make an interpretation of Jane Eyre. Therefore, this thesis will try to analyze how Charlotte Bronte attempts to deconstruct androcentrism or patriarchy in her novel by employing Derridan deconstruction to explore Charlotte Bronte’s real concern in Jane Eyre, which is, gender equality between man and woman.
