Abstract

Jane Austen, as a female writer, has pondered over female issues and has created a series of works with outstanding view. Mansfield Park as one of Austen’s maturest works with more complicated plots and stronger ironic commentary on the society，is a better representative of Jane Austen’s artist thoughts.
The present thesis discusses the female consciousness reflected in the heroine----Fanny Price, from the perspective of her new marriage interpretation and pursuit of an independent self, pointing out that the heroine Fanny Price is a unique female image combining the Austen’s unique understanding of female identity. By analyzing and comparing Fanny’s marriage interpretation with other female characters, we can have a better understanding of Austen’s marriage view that she tries to reveal through Fanny. Through Fanny’s insistence on an independent self and the rebellion to the patriarchal culture，this thesis explores Austen’s pursuit of an independent self as a feminist.

    简•奥斯汀作为一名女性作家，她对女性身份有过深刻的思考并且创作了一系列女性主义色彩浓厚的作品。《曼斯菲尔德庄园》和奥斯丁的其他作品相比，情节更为复杂，社会讽刺意味也更加浓重，更能代表简•奥斯汀的艺术思想。
本文从女主角范妮•普莱斯的婚姻意识和独立意识的角度出发，探讨了简•奥斯汀笔下女性人物强烈的女性意识，提出该小说女主人公范妮•普莱斯作为一个独特的女性形象凝结了奥斯汀对女性身份的独特见解。通过分析对比范妮•普莱斯与小说中其她女性角色的婚姻观，我们能清晰地感受到奥斯汀渴望透过范妮所表达的独特婚恋意识。本文通过分析范妮的对“自我”的坚持及对当时社会父权文化的反叛，探讨了奥斯汀透过女主人公所传达的她作为女性主义者对独立自我的追寻。

1. Introduction
Jane Austen is an extraordinary female writer from England. With only several works, she has certain impacts on the development of literature. As a female writer, she has had a deep consideration on females and has her own thought towards the female issues at that time, which is apparently reflected in her works. In the literary area, the studies of Austen’s works never stop.
