Abstract

The thesis is to analyze Charlotte Bronte’s masterpiece- Jane Eyre from the perspective of eco- feminism. Through studying this theory, the thesis focuses on elaborating the significance of liberating female and balance ecology from the perspectives like special relationship between female and nature, dualism and patriarchy, as well as reestablishment of harmonious society. In the analysis, nature become the sacrifice in social development, female position is devaluated in a anthropocentric society. The author shapes an unique self-respected and confident female image, who is succeeded to resist the oppression in her particular way, and builds a harmonious social relation. Finally, the conclusion is that, hoping to reveal the imbalance relationship between human and nature, male and female, people’s eco-feminism consciousness can be awakened, and then people can devote themselves to reestablish the new harmonious relationship.

摘 要

本文从生态女性主义角度来解读夏洛蒂•勃朗特的著作《简•爱》。通过认真了解生态女性理念后，论文将从自然与女性的特殊关系，二元对立，父权社会以及重建和谐社会等方面阐释了解放女性，平衡生态的重要性。经过分析，在以人类为中心的父权制社会中，自然成为社会发展的牺牲品，女性地位也被贬值，作者塑造了独特的自爱自信的女主人公形象并以其特殊方式成功反抗压迫，努力建立了相较和谐平等的社会关系。最终得出结论，希望通过揭露人与自然，男性与女性不平等关系,人们的生态女性主义观念能被唤醒，从而重新构建新型和谐关系。

1 Introduction
Charlotte Bronte(1816-1855) was a prominent female English novelist. She was well known as a declarer to defend and assert the rights of women, and most of her works are regarded as the representatives of weapons of defending women. The success of Jane Eyre, the most famous representative work of Charlotte, calls on numerous critics concentrating on the study of it and provides us with different interpretations of the novel from different perspectives. While few of them applied eco-feminism, the numerous critics mainly focus on the theme of feminism. With the newly born concept of eco-feminism, there is something deeper, which can be digged out on such undeveloped field.
Eco-feminism is a joining of environmental, feminine, and women’s spirituality concerns. While the environment crisis awaken female’s consciousness to the decay of earth, a parallel between devaluation earth and women is presented front the readers.
