Abstract and Key Words
Abstract: This study aims to analyze the grow path of Joe in Little Women, to find the factors that influence Joe’s growth. This essay goes from three aspects: the backgrounds of Joe’s growth including social background and family background; important persons in Joe’s growth, mainly her family members, Luria, and Bhare; and the manifestations of Joe’s growth, on thoughts and behaviors. Through the analysis of Joe’s growth, we can know the main factors that affect the growth of teenagers in modern times. The parents should be adroitly guided according to circumstances in bringing up their children. In addition, in Little Women, Joe is one of the most distinctive and independent character. Her growth progress inspires today’s parents to pay more attention to the function of home education, suggesting that the children’s personality development is more important than other aspects.

1. Introduction
1.1 About Louisa May Alcott
Louisa May Alcott (1832-1888) was born in Germantown, Pennsylvania on November29, 1832. She was raised in Concord Massachusetts, a small town with many famous writers of that time. Alcott was educated by her father Bronsn Alcott. Her mother, Abigail May Alcott, was a loving lady from prominent family in Boston, who was active in the moral elevation and improvement of her society. She was the matriarch of the family and exerted a profound influence on Louisa May Alcott.
The Alcott family was always short of money because of Mr.Alcott’s unrealistic projects. The family was kept in poverty and constant moving. At age 15, troubled by the poverty that plagued her family, she vowed: “I will do something by and by. Don’t care what teach, write, act, anything to help the family;and I will be rich and famous and happy before I die, see if I won’t!”. Lousia had to make money by making doll’s clothes even when she was still a child. At first, she helped her older sister Anna teach, and then went on to teach herself in West End School in Boston. Finally, she began to write.
