Abstract and Key Words

Abstract: In Sons and Lovers, D. H. Lawrence attempts to seek solutions from the abnormal maternal love of Mrs. Morel and Paul's Oedipus complex. Mrs. Morel’s emotional control to Paul can be seen in all sides, and the corresponding Phaedra complex gives rise to Paul’s failures of love with two women (Miriam and Clara) .Only by establishing harmonious relationship with the utility of soul and body can true love be achieved. This paper, based on the relationship between characters and emotional entanglements of characters, focuses on the detailed analysis on the theoretical basis, actual performance and the consequences of the Phaedra complex and the Oedipus complex in the novel.

摘要：在英国现代派小说家劳伦斯的作品《儿子与情人》中, 作者试图从莫瑞尔太太的畸形母爱及保罗自身的恋母情节中寻找答案。小说中处处可见莫瑞尔太太对保罗情感的“控制”，以及相应的“恋母情结”致使保罗在俩个女人（迷恋和克拉拉）的灵与肉的爱情无疾而终，只有建立和谐的两性关系, 灵与肉的统一才是真正的爱情。本文将在分析作品人物关系、情感纠葛和情感投射的基础上, 着重对“恋子情结”和“恋母情结”这种畸形之爱的理论依据和现实表现、造成的危害进行详细的阐述和分析。

1.    Introduction
D．H. Lawrence is one of the most original authors. He is called the pioneer of modernism novel. Although his work is so controversial, it can maintain everlasting enchantment that combination of romanticism and realisms; psychological analysis and social criticize.  Lawrence—the son of the miner, runs his life like his father. He uses his own spirit to exploit the natural flower of human beings, not for shocking society and even for catering for the babbittry instead of for letting this humanistic radiance lighten the prospect of human, especially the aspect of his brushwork on female. The original description all comes from his special experience and acute innermost induction. He pioneers a new place where human beings can understand and recognize themselves. Just like renowned critic F.R.Leavis said: Although Lawrence is not Shakespeare, he is a genius. His talent is demonstrated by his miraculous and acute insight, savvy and intellect.” His works break through the creational tradition of previous writers in 19th century and by using unique perspective, lyric style and micromesh brushwork to depict deeply the heart world. It describes the entanglement between mother and son which show the progress of love of them.
Sons and lovers is based on the personal experience of Lawrence to a great extent. It is commonly recognized as an autobiographical novel. D.H Lawrence’s father was a miner that he could just read the newspaper of his educational degree. However, his mother was well-educated. She read a lot. Thus kind of family is inharmonious. His father liked to drink and addicted to enjoy the life, on the contrary, his mother abstained from alcohol. Lawrence was grown in the quarrel of his parents. In that case, he was sensitive and fully insightful and was controlled by maternal love.
