From Cinderella to Lady Oracle
— A discussion on the influence of evil stepmother image towards child’s growth
Abstract

The family, acting as the cell of society, not only affects the physical and psychological condition of each family member, but also relates to the social stability. In most Chinese families, men are responsible for earning money and women are responsible for the family. When a child is born, the mother almost takes all the support obligations so that the father can provide enough financial support. So it is obvious that mother's education directly affects the child's growth.

"Cinderella" and "Lady Oracle" are both famous literary works. The thesis mainly discusses the negative mother images on the heroines’ growth in the two works. This article applies feminist consciousness into the detailed text analysis of fiction and fairy tales. It combined with the reality so as to show the mothers’ impact on children's growth.

This article attempts to deepen the study of negative mother image in the works of the Brothers Grimm and Margaret Atwood by feminist point of view.

摘        要

家庭是社会的细胞，家庭的好坏不仅影响到每个家庭成员的身心状态，也关系到社会的安定和维系。特别是在中国“男主外，女主外”的传统模式里面，母亲与孩子的接触，母亲对家庭的直接关注和付出，对整个家庭，对孩子一生的教育起到至关重要的作用。母亲承担着孩子教育第一人的重任。孩子出生后，母亲几乎担任照料孩子一切的重任，父亲则忙于事业，为家庭做坚强的经济后盾而努力，此时，母亲对孩子的教育影响显得特别突出。
    《灰姑娘》和《神谕女士》是著名的文学作品，课题主要研究两部作品中反面母亲形象对主人公成长的影响。本文旨在以女性意识为基础，对小说和童话进行详细的文本分析和解读，并结合现实中个别反面母亲教育失当对于子女成长产生负面影响的案例，从三个方面阐释母亲正确引导对于子女的重要性。
本论文试图通过该层面的解读，加深对玛格丽特•阿特伍德及作品和格林童话的研究，进一步挖掘母亲形象在文学作品和现实生活中的重要作用。
