摘要

乔治•戈登•拜伦和珀西•比西•雪莱同为19世纪英国著名的浪漫主义诗人。在两位诗人的一生中，他们揭露社会黑暗，公然反抗暴政，同情穷苦的受压迫人民。鲜明的政治观点和革命立场更使得他们二人名声赫赫。
长时间以来，拜伦和雪莱的诗歌中所具有的革命精神一直是研究的热点问题。由于他们的成长环境和性格的差异，拜伦和雪莱在作品中呈现出了迥然不同的革命特点。在既矛盾又复杂的性格的驱使下，拜伦创造出了高傲、冷漠的拜伦式英雄，却同时又是民主和自由的忠实捍卫者。比起拜伦，雪莱笔下的大多数形象都非常自信和乐观，并且坚持不懈地追求民主自由。两人都将自己的革命精神融入诗歌中，以诗为武器与黑暗的社会进行斗争。
为了更进一步地了解拜伦和雪莱的革命观，本文通过研读两位诗人的作品，分析诗歌中蕴含的革命精神，进而找出二人革命精神的相同点和不同之处，并最终得出结论，即雪莱是一位乐观进步的革命家，而拜伦则是一位悲观高傲的人民斗士。 他们的作品都极大地激发了民众的革命热情，为英国文学写下了灿烂的一页。

ABSTRACT

Both George Gordon Byron and Percy Bysshe Shelley were British famous Romantic poets in 19th century and at the same time their attitudes to politics and revolution made them even more celebrated. They rebelled against the tyranny and paid their sympathy to the poor and oppressed people by the powerful poems.
The previous researches on Byron and Shelley are mainly about their revolutionary spirits which are reflected from their poems. Because of their different experiences in growth and personalities, they represented diverse revolutionary characters. Byron created not only proud and aloof Byronic hero but also champions for democracy and liberty. Comparing with Byron, Shelly is enthusiastic and relatively simple. Most of the images he created are confident and optimistic, and persistently pursue freedom and liberty.
After reading and researching Byron and Shelley’s poems, this paper aims to analyze the revolutionary spirits revealed in their poems. Through the further analysis of their revolutionary characters, including similarities and differences, it is found that Shelly is an optimistic and progressive revolutionist while Byron is pessimistic, proud but a brave soldier fighting for human beings.
