ABSTRACT
D. H. Lawrence was a very important and controversial English writer of the 20th century. His works embody his extraordinary ability to convey a sense of humanity, and reveal the suppression of human nature in industrialization. Lawrence believed that a pure, natural and harmonious sexual relationship and the integration of spirit and clay between man and woman is a key to undistorted perception of reality and a way to respond to the inhumanity of the industrial culture.
In D. H. Lawrence’s short stories, imagery is widely used. Imagery originates from poetries to express the emotion of poets. Later, it is also widely used in novels to construct the development of the stories. In novels and short stories, imagery can be used as an important tool to suggest the change of the inner-world and to form the characteristic of the characters.

Lawrence and comes to two patterns of females’ attitudes towards love and marriage — emergence of love and fading of love in marriage. Additionally, with further effort to analyze the possible reasons in respect of the formation of females’ attitudes towards love and marriage, this paper provides a new angle to study works of Lawrence.

1 Introduction
D. H. Lawrence was a very talented and controversial English writer of the 20th century. His art is the product of prolonged and important meditations on psychology in relation to the moral needs of men of his age as he seeks to work male psychological laws into his fictions. In a lot of his literary work, his personal convictions can be interpreted as man's reaction to the development and changes of women in their social status and individualities.
