摘要

蒂姆伯顿是好莱坞著名的鬼才式导演，创作了许多经典影视作品，诸如《理发师陶德》，《查理和巧克力工厂》，《断头谷》，《剪刀手爱德华》，《蝙蝠侠》系列以及《大鱼》等。蒂姆伯顿的作品大多以其哥特式美学而闻名遐迩。他所创作的世界往往是自闭却充满张力，阴森却不乏华丽，冰冷与温暖相交杂。他是当今世界上最善于运用黑色幽默来进行艺术创作的大师之一。蒂姆伯顿的每一部电影不仅仅只是美学经典，他往往能以独特的视角去剖析人生和世界种种哲理。《大鱼》作为他的代表作之一，很好的诠释了蒂姆伯顿的哥特式美学理念，同时电影中运用夸张的艺术加工的对冒险精神的探讨同样的引人深思。人的一生是否应该不安于平凡? 冒险探索精神对人类文明发展所起到的推动意义都是些年来中西方学者讨论的焦点。
本文以《大鱼》作为研究案例，主要研究其中表达冒险精神，通过内容分析和对比论证的方法，致力于研究电影中各种意想的象征意义，以及蒂姆伯顿借此所推崇的冒险精神。文章首先阐述有关蒂姆伯顿和大鱼这部作品的相关背景，其次将结合对艺术层面的研究和对现实的探讨来深度分析影片中的每个意想，挖掘蒂姆伯顿对于冒险精神各方面的理解。最后将通过中西方探险文化差异对历史进程的影响来从影片外的角度来进一步论证冒险精神对文明发展所起到的积极的促进作用。
本文不仅是对蒂姆伯顿和《大鱼》研究的必要补充，同时有助于理解冒险精神的重要性。

Abstract

Tim Burton is a famous wizard-style director in Hollywood. He has created many classic films such as Sweeny Todd, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Sleepy Hollow, Edward Scissorhands, Batman series, Big Fish and so on. Most of his films are famous for the gothic aesthetics they embody. The worlds created by him are always self-closing but full of tension, gloomy but never lacking in beauty, cold but mixed with warmth. He is one of those masters who skillfully employ black humor in their work. All of his films are not only works of art, but offer special perspectives from which to see life and the world. Big Fish is a representative work of Tim Burton. This film well interprets Burton's gothic aesthetics. The adventurous spirit which Burton tries to convey through exaggeration is also thought-provoking. Should one's life not be mediocre? How significant is adventurous spirit in the promotion of civilization? These questions have been the subject of extensive debate among scholars for decades.
This thesis is a study of Big Fish, mainly focusing on the adventurous spirit in the film. It adopts content analysis and comparison and contrast as the research methods，aiming to analyze the symbolic meaning of various images in the film, and the adventurous spirit which Tim Burton tries to celebrate through these images. It first gives a brief introduction to the background of Tim Burton and the film Big Fish. Then it deals with all the images in the film through the analysis of his art combined with adiscussion of the related real world, and reveals how Tim Burton understands the adventurous spirit. Finally, it explores, as a context of the film, the significance and the positive value of adventurous spirit in civilization by studying the difference of adventurous spirit in Chinese and western history.
The result of this thesis will be a supplement to the research on Tim Burton and Big Fish and will also help us to gain insight into the significance of adventure spirit.
