摘要
现在,越来越多的书籍和研究关注着女性地位和女性思想觉醒,那么什么是女性思想及其觉醒呢?它与最亲密的女性间关系----母女关系----有何关系呢?
小说《喜福会》中,母女冲突不断,除去文化差异原因之外,就是母女们都在摸索着,让自己的女性思想逐渐从男权社会的压迫之中挣脱出来而造成的。本论文尝试从文中四对母女的冲突与和解过程进行分析,从而研究美国华裔女作家谭恩美(Amy Tan)的小说《喜福会》中四位母亲和她们的四个女儿之间的相互冲突和相互融合,以及母亲引导女儿女性意识女性思想逐渐觉醒的的心灵历程。

Abstract
An increasing number of books and researches focus on the wake-up of the female consciousness. So what is female consciousness and it’s wake-up? What the relationship between the relationship of mother and daughter, which known as the closest female relationship?
There are a lot of conflicts between mother and daughter in The Joy and Luck Club,. Since mothers and daughters are struggling to free them female consciousness under the pressure of patriarchal, despite the culture conflicts.
This thesis is trying to analyze the conflicts and reconciliation process of four couple of mother and daughter in Amy Tan’s work The Joy Luck Club, to get a better understanding of the spiritual journey of the female consciousness’s wake-up. It is also meaningful to other women to discover their own female consciousness.

1 Introduction
Amy Tan is one of the most famous Chinese-American writers.She is the only girl of three children.She was born in a Chinese immigrant family on Feb.19th 1952 in Oakland,California,
Like other Asian immigrant in America.Amy Tan spent her childhood attempting to try to find out the inconsistency between her ethnicity and the western mainstream culture in which she was brought up and educated.She experienced the typical immigrant life:when she was at home,she Was a Yankeefied teenager who is disagree with the expectation of her traditional parents;while at school,she was not accepted by other classmates as the only Chinese girl in the class like The Stranger.
When Tan was ten years old,her father and one of her brothers both died of brain tumor successively within a few months.Her mother wanted to get rid of the pain for the family and moved her family to Switzerland,where Tan finished her high school.During these years,the mother and her daughter argued about Tan’s college and Career.Her mother advised that she study medicine. But finally ,Tan followed her boy friend to San Jose City College,where she got her bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in English and linguistics.
