摘要

《华伦夫人的职业》出自著名戏剧家萧伯纳之手，描述的是一段波澜起伏的母女情感。女儿薇薇对母亲最初的反感因为同情母亲不幸却又坚强的人生经历变得肃然起敬。但当得知母亲现在仍在经营着妓院之后，之前的敬佩和对母亲的爱不复存在。薇薇毅然离开了母亲，一个人独立的生活。本文通过对母女俩矛盾的分析，进而分析矛盾背后所折射的社会问题。
母女俩矛盾的原因之一便是代沟问题，因为不同的生活经历，相应的人生观、价值观也会有所不同。父母通常会为孩子描绘好未来的蓝图，让他们根据铺好的道路走下去。孩子却往往会对父母的权威，价值观念，生活模式等产生叛逆。他们希望有自己的空间与生活模式。矛盾的产生便来源于思维模式上的差异和无法有效的沟通。原因之二是母亲是比较传统的女性，而女儿薇薇却是一个个性独立，自立自强，反传统的新一代女性。
矛盾背后折射出的是当时存在的社会问题。首先是普遍的贫穷，贫穷成了一切社会矛盾的根源。因此颇受鄙视的妓女职业也是因为贫困才会衍生而来，并非是不道德的产物。其次是拜金主义，当拜金主义的风气弥漫这整个社会的时候，一切都是建立在追求物质基础，婚姻也会建立在金钱上，导致了价值观的扭曲。再次就是社会的虚伪，虚伪的人用光鲜的外表来掩饰丑陋的灵魂。

Abstract

Mrs. Warren’s Profession written by the famous playlist Bernald Shaw, describes the relationship experience of the mother and daughter. Vivie is indifferent to her mother at the beginning. After hearing the unfortunate and tough experience of her mother, Vivie shows her sympathy and admiration to Mrs. Warren. At the discovery of her mother's continued involvement in the business, Vivie's admiration and daughterly compassion evaporate. She throws away Mrs. Warren, living independently.
One of the reasons is due to the generation gap. Because of the different experience, the values about life would be different. Usually the parents have planned the future of the children, hoping that they could go forward as the blueprint. However, the children are likely to reject the authority, the values, and the living pattern. What they need is the own space and life pattern. In addition, the failure of effective communication leads to the break out of the conflict. The second reason is that Mrs. Warren is a conventional woman, while Vivie is an unconventional woman.
The social problems reflected from the conflict are also the essential topic of the play. One is the poverty, which is the source of the other problems, including the prostitution. In this respect, prostitution is the result of poverty, not the immorality. The second is the money worship. The cult of the money worship pervades the whole society. Almost everything is built on the basis of money, including the marriage, thus leads to the twist of the soul. The third is the phenomenon of hypocrisy, the hypocritical people disguise the ugly souls with the superficial glorify.
