摘要

笔者选取了两篇风味清新动人的散文—英国女作家弗吉尼亚•伍尔夫的《邱园记事》和美国女作家琼•荻迪恩的《回家》为研究对象。笔者将二者与19世纪初期在绘画领域风靡一时的“后印象主义”风格联系在一起,发掘它们在探索主观精神世界和追求创新创作技巧方面的和而不同,着重探讨了《邱园记事》中“主观真实”,“瞬间印象”,“富含深意的画面感”,《回家》中新新闻主义以“场景-场景”为核心的拼贴技巧以及“断裂”技巧等新语法现象的应用。此外,笔者还围绕两篇文章之于创作背景,主题思想,诗意性,叙事视角及文章对于情节的依赖性方面的同与不同展开,做了简要阐述。笔者通过对“后印象主义”特点,两篇散文各自鲜明特色一一阐述和比较,发现在绘画和文章中由于直觉、主观的观察和再现世界,色彩与形状,主观与客观,视觉与联想,描写、叙事、议论有机结合而呈现出与众不同、余味深长的审美效果,发掘艺术的国度里,不同种属不同特点的艺术作品之间存在许多契合之处,而这些契合处是可以超越时间,领土,乃至专业领域的界限。

Abstract

The writer of this thesis focuses on two women writers—Virginia Woolf and Joan Didion and chooses two refreshing and touching essays—Virginia Woolf’s Kew Garden and Joan Didion’s On Going Home. The writer of this thesis perceives that there lurked some stylistic characteristics in these two essays that can be associated with Post-Impressionism, a sought-after movement in the circle of painters lasting from the end of the 19th century to the early 20th century and makes some tentative explorations on their similarities and distinctions.
The writer of this thesis goes into the characteristics of “subjective truth”, “the moment of being”, and “the symbolic images” etc. presented in Kew Garden in particular and makes efforts to explore the applications of techniques of New Journalism as well as the fragmentation techniques of alternate grammar presented in On Going Home, such as the “scene-by-scene” technique, “collage”, “labyrinthine sentences”, “crot-like paragraphs” etc. Besides, the writer of this thesis makes a broad summary on some other similarities and differences between Kew Garden and On Going Home, revolving around issues like their writing backgrounds, themes, the poetics in the expression and structure, the narrative perspective and the reliance on plots. The writer of this thesis comes to the conclusion, in final analysis, that the two essays related to the characteristics of Post-Impressionism in the general sense of unraveling psycho-world in-depth and doing experiments on new creative techniques. Whatever the two writers or the Post-Impressionistic painters are prone to observe and reflect this world and the lives in it from a subjective perspective. The combination of colors and shapes, sights and imaginary, descriptions, narrations and judgments in their works get the readers engrossed in an unprecedented artistic pleasure, which also turns out as an embodiment that there are some related parts in the realm of arts which are beyond the limitation of fields, time or nationalities.
