摘要:
节日,作为民俗文化中的一个重要部分,包含着一个民族历史形成和沉淀下来的性格、心理、信仰、观念、思维方式、道德情操、审美情趣,寄托了人民对生活的热爱。本文以中国古典名著《红楼梦》和外国短篇小说《圣诞欢歌》中所涉及到的节日庆祝为例,主要是春节和圣诞节,分别从节日主题、人们的礼仪、饮食、祭祖祭神方式等方面进行了对比,分析两个节日的异同之处,并以此分析为出发点,研究中西方传统节日文化内涵。同时分析了当今中西方节日相互交融的现象。本文旨在让我们更好地客观地认识理解中国文化,更深刻、全面地认识理解于我们有积极意义的外来文化,从而提高我们的跨文化交际能力。

Abstract:
As a crucial part in folk-custom-related culture conducting people’s passion for life, festivals contain the formation of one nation and the precious traits the nation has precipitated with time going by, which refer to people’s characters, mentalities, beliefs, connotations, thoughts, moral sentiments and temperaments. This text centers on the famous Chinese traditional novel A Dream of Red Mansion and western short novel A Christmas Carol, especially two typical festivals –Spring Festival and Christmas, and makes comparison on both similarities and differences of the two festivals, including the festival theme, differences in etiquette, diet and ways of sacrifice ceremony and so on, which is then the basic proof to study the culture of both Chinese traditional festivals and western festivals. It also reflects on the western festivals in China. Through the whole text we could learn about Chinese and western festival-related culture better and choose the beneficial foreign festival culture, thus improving our cross-culture communication ability.

1. Introduction
It is known to all that traditional festivals are the long-term accumulation of a country’s history and culture. Festivals, related to people’s daily life intently, reflect a world of emotion and people’s passion for life. As the saying goes,” one festival, one culture, one nation”. So, to learn the culture characteristics and connotation of China and western countries, we’re bound to begin with respective traditional festivals. Surely, festivals are ubiquitous over the world in various forms, namely, hallmarks of festivals are rich, according to the division of regions and nations.
