Abstract ：

What is a real life? I would like you to think for a few seconds. What is a real life for you? Is it something subjective or objective? Is it something easy or difficult to answer? Maybe, if we go beyond, I can ask you what is real for you. Indeed, this is a difficult question, but I think that Alice Munro, the writer of the story that we are discussing now, made a very close attempt to answer this huge question and she did it just by telling us the story of a simple and ordinary family. Her outstanding writing style places her in the forefront among the writers in the same area．The delicate description of the fate of the ordinary female characters in her stories depicts the reality of life. The paper attempts to offer an analysis and interpretation of Alice Munro’s story “A Real Life.”

Introduction：Alice Munro and her story “A Real Life”
Canadian writer Alice Munro is known as the "Canadian Chekhov." In October 2013, Munro won the Nobel prize for literature. Her stories are almost all about ordinary people in small Canadian towns, whose topics or themes are related to their love, daily life, sickness and death. She uses simple sentences to describe plain life and give the readers deep and sincere feelings. Her stories are set in Huron County of Ontario province, with distinguishing regional characteristics.
Alice Monroe was born in Ontario in 1931 in Wenger town. As still a maid, she had begun her writing and then focused on the creation of short fiction. In 1968 she published her first short story collection Dance of the Happy Shades, and was nominated the Governor's General Award in Canada. And later she created a total of 14 works and won many awards. At the same time, they had been translated into many language across the world. They were highly valued by the readers and the medium. Runaway is one of the representative works of Alice Munro and also the first work of Munro's writings translated into Chinese. This book is made up of several short stories, and characters are all ordinary women. They were from the outskirts of town and have the same fate in the story. Just like other people, they are also annoyed by their feelings, confused by love, passion and impulse.
