Abstract:
This paper aims to explore the cultural differences between China and the United States through The Joy Luck Club in the perspective of family education. The author discusses the characteristics of the family education through mother and daughter in The Joy Luck Club and analyzes the cultural differences between China and the United States and attempts to unveil the possible reasons for these differences. The author finally draws the conclusion that it is the historical background, economic system, social conditions and cultural tradition that have resulted in the cultural differences between China and America.

摘要:
本文从《喜福会》中家庭教育的角度出发,旨在探寻中美在文化上的差异。笔者从《喜福会》中母女两代人的生活经历阐述西方家庭教育的特征,分析中美文化的差异,并试图揭示中美文化差异产生的原因。笔者认为中美文化差异产生的原因在于两国不同的历史背景,经济体制,社会环境以及文化传统。

1. Introduction
1.1 Amy Tan
Amy Tan was born on February 19, 1952 in Oakland, California. She is the second of three children born to Chinese immigrants Daisy (née Li), and John Tan, an electrical engineer and Baptist minister. She is an American writer whose works explore mother-daughter relationships. The novel The Joy Luck Club was published in 1989, which makes her great success. Then she also writes a lot of famous books, such as The Kitchen God's Wife, the Hundred Secret Senses. Her works have been translated into more than 20 languages in the world. Nowadays, she has become one of the representative writers in Chinese literature America.
