摘 要
《简爱》是英国维多利亚时期著名女作家夏洛蒂•勃朗特的代表作。小说讲述了一个普通的孤女简爱,不断追求独立平等,历经坎坷,最终实现自己的理想的故事。小说中平凡的女孩有着不平凡的人格特质,给世人以震撼。无论在十九世纪的英国还是在当代社会,《简爱》都引起了强烈的反响。本论文旨在从心理学者奥尔波特的人格特质理论角度出发,剖析简爱的个人特质,揭开简爱的内心世界,以更好的解读《简爱》,启迪当代女性。论文通过分析发现简爱的自尊与自卑的矛盾贯穿于其生活的方方面面,因此简爱的与众不同在于她是一个在自卑及自尊的斗争与调和中顽强成长的女性。而其独立、叛逆、善良的性格造就了她独特的魅力。她追求纯洁的爱情,对爱的执着忠贞更为其形象增添光彩。同时,也发现简爱之所以走上这条不寻常的人生道路,其人格特质发挥着重要作用。通过此论文,希望能帮助人们更全面深刻的认识简爱,挖掘人物的鲜活形象,深入人物内心,从而理清情节,理解作品的主题及其反映的现实意义。另外,也能了解人格特质的重要影响作用,联系自身,学习人物的优良品质,以实现自身理想。

ABSTRACT
Jane Eyre is the representative works of Charlotte Bronte, a famous British female writer in Victorian times. In the novel, an ordinarily orphan - Jane Eyre, who aspired independence and equality, goes through difficulties, and finally makes her dream come true. The extraordinary experience of this common girl leaves a great impression on people. In the 19th century’s British and in today’s world, Jane Eyre has always been arousing strong repercussions among readers. This paper uses Gordon Willard Allport’s theory of trait to explore Jane Eyre’s individual characteristic, which will help readers get better understanding of the novel, and enlighten contemporary women. This paper found that the contradiction of self- esteem and self- abasement ran though Jane’s whole life and this typical personality made Jane such a unique person that no one can replace. The kindness, resistance and independence of her contribute to her unique character. Her dedication to thinking and learning added splendor to her personality as well. Such kind of individual traits leads the girl to the road to fulfill her dream. The paper aims to help people have a comprehensive and profound understanding of Jane Eyre as well as the theme of the novel by in-depth analyzing people’s inner world and detailing characteristics. In addition, the paper allows readers to learn about the impact of trait theory and how to apply the theory to the reading of Jane Eyre as well as the reading of themselves, which will eventually help readers to gain enlightenment from the heroine to fight for their own future.
