Abstract:

This thesis is intended to interpret Pearl Buck’s masterpiece--The Good Earth from the perspective of feminism. It consists of seven parts. Part one introduces the life experiences of Pearl Buck, the main concern of The Good Earth as well as the significance of doing the research into this masterpiece from the perspective of feminism. Part two gives a theoretical review of feminism, including the essence and the development of feminism. Part three focuses on the factors contributing to the formation of Pearl Buck’s feminism before summarizing the main features of her feminism. Part four is about the contribution Pearl Buck has made to feminism. Part five analyses The Good Earth and its heroine, Alan, in the light of feminism by exploring Alan’s obedience and resistance as well as their underlying reasons. Part six discusses the realistic meaning of the heroine—Alan. Part Seven brings the paper to its conclusion that it’s Pearl Buck’s hope for women to fight against the patriarchal society in their own ways so as to accomplish women’s ultimate emancipation

摘  要：

论文主要从女性主义的视角来解读赛珍珠的小说---《大地》。论文共分七个部分。论文第一部分首先简要介绍了小说《大地》和其作者赛珍珠的经历和文学成就，然后介绍了从女性主义的角度来研究《大地》的意义以及本论文的目的和结构。在第二部分，论文对女性主义理论进行了回顾，包括女性主义本质和女性主义发展的三个阶段。在第三部分，论文探讨了赛珍珠的女性主义成因和特点。在第四部分，论文总结了赛珍珠对女性主义所做的贡献。在第五部分，论文重点分析了小说《大地》所体现的女性主义思想。该部分分析了女主人公阿兰以及她身上顺从与反抗的精神以及从顺从到反抗的原因，同时概括了阿兰身上所反映的女性主义以及赛珍珠的希望。论文的第六部分探讨了阿兰形象的现实意义以及对当代社会的启示。最后论文第七部分得出如下结论---女性应该用自己的方式和男权社会进行斗争。
