Abstract:

Doris Lessing is widely regarded as one of the most important post-war writers in England. She won numerous literary awards in her life. And the Nobel Prize for Literature she obtained in 2007 is the most praised all over the world. She got the honor at the age of 88, becoming the oldest Nobel Prize winner. There are countless scholars studying Lessing's works both at home and abroad. Foreign scholars tend to study her Marxism, Sufism and feminism while the domestic scholars more focus on her feminist issues. My article, from the human nature perspective, analyzes the experience of protagonist Ben so as to understand Lessing's interpretation on the family and human nature. When faced with the dark power, humans will show positive or negative side. First, we study Harriet and David's attitude towards children, and analyze the causes of the tragic fate of Ben in order to interpret the indifference and loneliness of contemporary humanity. Then we stand in Ben's position to study the world, to study the relationship and emotions among people and to explore the nature of human. Eventually, we combine the unique human change Lessing portrays in The Fifth Child with the other works to discuss the profound
impact on the modern society.

多丽丝•莱辛是二战后英国最伟大的作家之一，获得了无数的文学奖项荣誉，最为人津津乐道的是她在2007年，88岁高龄时获得的诺贝尔文学奖，成为获得这一奖项年龄最大的作家。对于莱辛的研究，国内外的学者数不胜数。外国学者更倾向于对她的马克思主义，苏菲主义和女性主义等方面展开研究；国内的学者则更专注于她的女性主义课题上。本文从人性的理论视角分析莱辛笔下的主人公本的经历，解读莱辛对家庭，人性的深刻剖析。探讨面临黑暗力量时，人性的正面与负面。首先我们研究《第五个孩子》中海蕊与大卫对孩子的态度变化，分析主人公本（Ben）的悲惨命运的成因，来解读当代人性的冷漠与孤独。然后站在本的角度去研究这个世界，研究人与人之间的关系，情感，探讨人性的本质。继而探究莱辛在《第五个孩子》中刻画的独特的人性变化，并结合其他作品对其、思想进行探究，讨论莱辛思想对当时以及现代社会的深刻影响。
