Abstract: Jane Eyre, the masterpiece of Charlotte Bronte, caught the eyes of the readers after its publication in 19th century. The critics and scholars never stop their study on the very novel and show interests in the novel from different perspective. The whole thesis consists of four parts. The first part will give a brief introduction of the novel and the topic’s significance in modern society. The second part is the theoretical backgrounds including three parts: feminism, feminism in Victorian age and traditional women’s views on marriage in 19th England. On the basis of feminism, the third part analyzes Jane’s view on marriage from following aspects: equality, honesty and true love. She wants Rochester to treat her equally, so she refuses to accompany Rochester when knowing his marriage with Miss Ingram. She hopes her husband to be honest to her, so she leaves Rochester after knowing his mad wife. Finally she refuses St. John and marries her true lover Rochester. In the conclusion, the author will summarize the previous parts and emphasize that Jane Eyre’s view on marriage actually reflects strong feminist consciousness of Charlotte Bronte in her age. With the analysis of her view on marriage, the thesis hopes it can offer readers a new perspective to understand the female awareness implied the novel.

摘  要：夏洛特•勃朗特的著作《简•爱》自19世纪出版以来便吸引了众多读者。评论家和学者对这部小说产生浓厚兴趣并从各个不同角度对其进行不断的研究。本文由四部分组成。第一部分将简要介绍一下小说以及本文的选题在当今社会的意义。第二部分的理论背景包括三部分，一是女性主义理论是什么，二是维多利亚时代的女性主义，三是19世纪英国传统女性的婚姻观。基于女性主义理论，第二部分是对简•爱婚姻观的分析，由三部分组成，平等、信任以及真爱。她想要罗切斯特平等地对待她，所以当她知道罗要和英格拉姆小姐结婚时果断拒绝继续陪伴他。她希望丈夫对自己诚实以待，所以当她知道罗有妻子后便离开了他。最后她拒绝圣约翰并与真爱罗切斯特结婚。通过以上分析可以得出结论，简•爱的婚姻观确实体现了夏洛特•勃朗特强烈的女性意识。根据对其婚姻观的分析，本文希望能够赋予读者一种全新的视角，以充分理解这部小说中隐含的女性意识。
