Abstract

Dombey and son is the work of Charles Dickens in his second literature creation. Firstly, Charles Dickens emphasizes the hero Dombey’s inhumanity as a capitalist, who totally excludes his own emotion in his life. But in fact, seldom does Dombey and Son involve commercial proceedings. Instead it is a novel dealing with Dombey’s family life, which presents a picture of Dombey as a father and a husband in the family relationship. In fact, today there are still many such families, and the problems they face are just like those in Dombey’s family. And the tragedy in Dombey and Son gives us a warning, so the study of this book has its enlightenment for today’s family education.
This thesis is composed of four parts. The first part gives a brief introduction to Charles Dickens and the novel. And the second part analyzes the hero Dombey’s character as a father, and it can be seen from what he did and said that he was a selfish, arrogant and indifferent man. The third part illustrates Dombey’s influence on his son and daughter, who were in deep loneliness and sorrow because of Dombey’s selfishness, arrogance and indifference. The fourth part analyzes the practical significance of family education in Dombey and Son. In the end, the influence of Dombey and Son is expounded. It has its enlightenment for the modern family education, and inspires today’s parents to give more attention to the healthy growth of their children.

摘  要

《董贝父子》是狄更斯第二期创作生涯的作品。首先狄更斯强调了主人公董贝作为一个资产者的非人性，他把感情完全排除在自己的生活之外，而实际上《董贝父子》很少谈及具体的商业活动，它其实是一部以家庭生活为题材的小说，通过家庭关系表现了作为丈夫、作为父亲的董贝。实际上，现在仍有许多这样的家庭，他们面临的问题正如董贝家庭面临的问题一样，董贝父子一书中的悲剧给予了世人警示，因此对该书的研究对当今的家庭教育有着一定的启示作用。
该论文由四部分组成。第一部分对作者及这部作品作了简单的介绍。第二部分分析了董贝作为父亲的这个角色。从他的行为和言语可以看出，他是一个自私、傲慢且冷漠的人。第三部分对董贝对其儿女的影响做了分析。由于董贝的自私、傲慢、冷漠导致他的儿女长期处于孤独和痛苦中。第四部分分析了董贝父子中家庭教育的现实意义。最后，本文阐述了该作品的影响。它对现代家庭教育有着启示的作用并且激励当代父母给予孩子的健康成长更多的关注。
