Abstract 
 
The legal definition of racial discrimination is any act that treats people of other races in a different manner. Human beings are not born with racial discrimination and prejudice. In a special social context, discrimination against ethnic minority is often characterized of non-instinctive prejudice and hatred. To Kill a Mockingbird is a film with a strong ethnic color, clearly expressing the consciousness of white people. It argues that the film is actually a decent artistic portrayal of racial injustice. The author aims at providing some help and guidance for the researchers who need to study American ethnic and cultural conflicts by studying the racial discrimination in the film.
This paper consists of three parts. It firstly introduces the background of the movie and the symbol of mockingbird. Then, the author introduces some scenes and shooting methods in the movie to highlight the topic of racial discrimination against black people. Finally, the paper concludes that although the black achieved some rights in American history, there is still a long way to go to realize the absolute equality.

摘  要

在法律上意义上，种族歧视就是用不同与对待本种族的方式来对待其他种族的行为，种族歧视和种族偏见不是人类与生俱来就有的。在一个特定的社会背景下，对非本族人群的种族歧视常常表现为非本能的偏见和仇恨。《杀死一只知更鸟》这部影片具有很强的种族色彩，清晰地表达了白人的种族意识，是南方白人把不体面的种族歧视包装成一个体面的艺术杰作。本文通过对《杀死一只知更鸟》这部影片进行分析总结出：目前，要想消除种族歧视，打破种族歧视的藩篱，人类还需要做出相当大的努力。笔者旨在通过对《杀死一只知更鸟》这部影片进行系统分析总结，为需要研究美国种族文化冲突的研究者提供一定的帮助和指导。
本文分为三部分。文章在第一部分介绍了影片的背景及“知更鸟”的象征意义。紧接着作者介绍了影片中所表现出种族歧视的场景及拍摄手法等来突出种族歧视的主题。第三部分综合论述了尽管美国黑人取得了一些成果，但是要想实现完全的平等仍有很长的路要走。
