Abstract

As a British Romanticism writer, Mary Shelley wins the honor of Mother of Science Fiction due to her special and fresh gothic & mysterious descriptions. Her novel Frankenstein is not only a science fiction but also a social description of scientific and technological revolution and human development in British revolution period. Since published in 1818, Frankenstein has been an immediate hit, and made the author become a famous litterateur like her husband, the famous romantic poet Percy Bysshe Shelley.
This paper analyzes the three stages of the personality development of the Monster and the changing process of Victor Frankenstein. The author of the essay finds that Mary Shelley transferred Percy Shelley into the two characters in the novel----Monster and Victor Frankenstein. By analyzing it, it is found that the development of the main characters is foiled by the description of the nature in the novel.
Through analysis of the personality of monster and Victor Frankenstein, with a combination of Percy Shelley and the social situation at that time, the essay finds that the novel reveals the injustice and darkness of society, and also expresses people’s relentless pursuit of fairness, justice and human rights.

作为英国浪漫主义时期的作家，玛丽•雪莱以其小说中恐怖的内容和新颖的写作手法而赢得了“科幻小说之母”的称号。她的小说《弗兰肯斯坦》不仅是一部科幻小说，同时也是十八世纪英国工业革命时期科技改革和人类发展的一个写照。小说自1818年首次出版以来便获得了巨大成功，她成为了和她丈夫珀西•比希•雪莱一样的著名的小说家。
论文分析了《弗兰肯斯坦》中怪物的三个阶段的性格发展过程和维克多•弗兰肯斯坦随着怪物性格的变化而产生的一系列变化。从分析中可以发现，玛丽雪莱把珀西•比希•雪莱融入角色中，怪物和维克多•弗兰肯斯坦是他的两种性格。结合雪莱的诗，本文发现小说中的自然描写目的是要从侧面衬托人物的性格变化过程。
通过分析小说中怪物和维克多弗兰肯斯坦的人物性格，结合珀西•比希•雪莱的一生以及当时的社会现状，论文作者认为小说展示了当时社会的黑暗和不公，也表达了人们对于公平，正义和人权的不懈追求。
