摘要：

查尔斯•狄更斯是19世纪批判现实主义小说家，是英国批判主义的杰出代表。《雾都孤儿》是狄更斯杰出的代表作，虽然奥利弗是这部小说的主角，但是，南希也作为一个重要的人物在这部小说中出现。南希从小跟随贼首费金，过着社会底层的生活，同时，他还是二号头目赛克斯的情人，她的角色具有较强的现实意义。在小说中，她虽然是费金和赛克斯的助手，但也时时刻刻在帮助着奥利弗。小说通过大量的语言和对话描写南希的矛盾性格。本文首先从南希的双重性格入手，运用大量的事例，具体发掘南希的双重性格。同时分析南希具有双重性格的原因，通过此来呼唤人类善良的本性和憧憬美好的未来。

Abstract:

Charles Dickens was the nineteenth Century critical realism novelist, was the outstanding representative of the British criticism. Oliver Twist was Dickens’s famous work, although Oliver was the hero of the novel, however, Nancy was also an important figure in the novel. Nancy followed Fagin, lived at the bottom of the social life, at the same time, he was number two leader Sikes’s lover. The role of Nancy has a strong practical significance. In the novel, although she was Fagin and Sikes’s helper, she also helped Oliver. The novel used a large number of language and dialogue to describe Nancy’s contradictory character. This paper starts at the double character of Nancy, using a large number of examples to explore double character of Nancy. Then the paper provides an analysis of reasons for Nancy to have double character; hoping people can show their good native, and get the colorful future.

1. Introduction
Charles Dickens, British novelist, was born in 1812 at Portsmouth, and he was the greatest representative of English critical realism. When he was 12 years old, Charles was sent to work in a factory in the East End of London, and his father let him gave up his formal education. Although he went back to school when he was 13, as a young person, he worked as a reporter and his novel career began with short pieces. He exhibited a great ability to draw up a story in an interesting manner.
