Abstract
The feminist consciousness is concretely reflected in the three female protagonists — Elizabeth, Charlotte as well as Jane, which is manifested in their distinct personalities, different attitudes towards marriage and different views on their middle-class social status in Jane Austin’s novel Pride and Prejudice. The feminist consciousness in the novel Pride and Prejudice can encourage modern females to pursue their own happiness and achieve self-realization.

1. Introduction
Jane Austen (1775-1817), the youngest daughter of George Austen, is an outstanding female novelist in England. She received a good education at home. She lived an uneventful life amid the provincial surroundings of the Southern England, and never married throughout her life.
Jane Austen started writing at an early age. Her main novels include: Pride and Prejudice (1813), Mansfield Park (1814), Emma (1816), Northanger Abbey (1818) Sense and Sensibility (1818) and Persuasion (1818). In her works, she never “touched upon the class conflicts of her time, and restricted her subject matter to a narrow range of society and events that she had already been familiar with: a quiet and prosperous, middle-class circle in provincial surroundings” (Tian and Wang, 169). However, she treated this matter with “such subtlety of observation, depth of psychological penetration and delicacy of touch that she is ranked among the best of English novelists” (Wei, 134).
