[摘 要]

本文通过分析《雾都孤儿》中的主要人物的善与恶，来探究狄更斯的善恶观。本文将从狄更斯的批判现实主义视角出发，主要针对作品中人物是如何体现善与恶的；人性的善与恶是如何界定的；狄更斯的善恶观在作品中是如何体现的。将狄更斯的《雾都孤儿》中的真善美再重现一遍，体现正义最终战胜邪恶的道德观。

Abstract:

The thesis analyses some main characters’ view of virtues and vices in Oliver Twist,then discusses Dickens’ view of virtues and vices. There aspects are to be discussed: how the characters’ view of virtues and vices was showed in the novel; how the nature of view of virtues and vices was defined; how Dickens’ view of virtues and vices was showed in the novel. The thesis will show truth, virtue, beauty of the novel again, and finally show virtuous point—virtues defeat vices finally.

1. Introduction
Dickens is the greatest realist in the 19th century. River novels are his highest achievement. Oliver Twist is one of them. His novels reveal Britain social reality vividly. He shows social contradiction and crisis in political, economical, and moral in his novel. His novels mainly refer to three aspects: criticism of Victorian society; advocating of ethic; deeply researching of human nature. Oliver Twist also concerns these aspects.
Oliver Twist is an important social novel. It firstly establishes critical realist of Dickens. The novel shows the all-sided society of Victoria through Oliver Twist’s experiences. Virtues and vices’ struggle is fully showed in the novel, but virtues defeat vices finally. Virtuous people live happily.
2. Analyzing of characters
Dickens creates different characters in Oliver Twist. There are virtuous characters—Oliver Twist, Brownlow, Roses and so on. There are evil characters—Fagin, Bumble and Sikes. There is virtuous and evil character—Nancy. Their life is described vigorously, but it is the epitome of London life.
