Abstract
Being an international best-seller, Harry Potter series has won the grace from both common readers and professional critics. Rather than a simple imaginary story, this novel can be found comprising of several themes such as the attitude toward love and death, confusion in adolescence, power and abuse of power, and free choice. However, this thesis is intended to make an analysis from a relatively new perspective---the spirit of anti-racism.
In the thesis, the anti-racism theme is analyzed from three different social levels---the leader, the fighter and the foregoer. Albus Dumbledore—headmaster of Hogwarts, Hermione Granger—smart muggle-born girl, and Dobby—a house-elf all play very important roles in Harry Potter’s growing up. What's more, they also play indispensable roles in the fight against anti-racism. This thesis describes the hardships and dangers these three people face and the dauntless spirits they show on the way of fighting against racism. This analysis may lead people to pay more attention to J.K. Rowling's anti-racism conception, and provide a better understanding of the Harry Potter series.

I. Introduction
Being a multinational state, UK has a long history of racism. Racism, generally speaking, is considered a belief that the genetic factors which constitute race, ethnicity, or nationality are a primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that ethnic differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race. (Barndt 132) With the development of social civilization, there is a growing emphasis on the value of the rights. In the 1890s,anti-racism came into being. In general, anti-racism is intended to promote an egalitarian society in which people do not face discrimination on the basis of their race. In the following decades, the supporters of anti-racism have brought about many attempted changes in society. The legislation and ethics against racial discrimination has also emerged. Affirmative action has been made in order to ensure individuals' rights and equal opportunities. Nevertheless, until recent years, people still maintain separate views of the races. "There will always be those who will fight for change while others resist, seeking to maintain the status quo." as Barndt puts it in his work. (76)
