Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the feminism reflected in the character—Medea. Through analysis to Greek mythology and Euripides tragic play Medea, the author fully demonstrated Medea’s feminism. The introduction part elaborated the plot of Medea. The body part contained three aspects. Firstly, the paper defined the cause of Medea’s revenge and social background against women at that time. Medea was the forerunner of the awakening of feminine self-consciousness. Secondly, Medea’s revenge and struggle were the representation of arousal of feminism: Medea’s fight against paternity to pursue independence and free love; fight against manus maritalis to pursue self-dignity and equality and to exhibit women’s intelligence; fight against Kingship to demonstrate women’s braveness. Lastly, the thesis analyzed the nature of Medea’s tragedy. It was a domestic tragedy, but it tended to be more of a social and epochal tragedy. Through the analysis, the paper expressed sympathy towards Medea and meanwhile restated Medea as the mirror of women pursuing freedom and respect. The conclusion part generalized Medea’s exhibition of feminism. While Medea’s rebellion was thorough and cruel, her struggle and revenge stood for women’s challenge against fate and represented justice and fairness. Her revenge was the manifestation of women’s self-consciousness and struggle for feminism.

摘     要

本文主要研究美狄亚这个人物身上反映出来的女性主义。通过对希腊罗马神话和欧里庇得斯剧本《美狄亚》的分析，作者充分强调了美狄亚身上反映出的女性主义。 介绍部分详细描述了美狄亚的故事情节。 正文部分包括三个方面。首先作者探讨了美狄亚复仇的原因和故事发生的社会背景，从而作者阐明了美狄亚是女性自我意识觉醒的先驱。其次，作者从三个方面论证了美狄亚的反抗和抱负代表了女性主义的觉醒：对父权的反抗为追求自由和幸福；对夫权的反抗为追求独立的人格和平等以及展现女性的智慧；对王权的反抗为呈现女性的英勇。再次，作者探讨了美狄亚的悲剧性质，不仅是一部家庭悲剧，更是时代悲剧。作者表达了对美狄亚的同情以及再次强调了美狄亚是妇女追求自由和独立的典范。结论部分概括了美狄亚女性主义的体现。美狄亚的反抗是彻底的也是残忍的，代表着女性摆脱其命运的信心和追求公平和正义的决心。美狄亚的报复是女性自我意识和追求平等的完美体现。
