Abstract:

The Kite Runner is the first novel written by Afghan-American author Khaled Hosseini. Since its first publication in June 2003, it has drawn considerable publicity and received praises from the critics all over the world. It has been translated into forty-eight languages and has been sold over eight million copies in the past nine years, creating a miracle of the publishing industry. The Kite Runner tells a story of the experiences of an Afghan-American immigrant Amir, who committed the sin in childhood and made every effort to make up his sin as an adult.
The present paper chooses The Kite Runner’s text as the object to study. By reading the text closely, the author explores the core value of the novel——betrayal and redemption of human nature. This paper first introduces Khaled Hosseini and the background of the novel, and then it analyses the personal characters, experiences and plot features combined with Jung’s archetype theory to discuss Amir’s betrayal and the causes for his betrayal. At last the author analyses the “redemption” in the novel from three aspects——redemption for individuals, mankind and the soul based on history and reality facts.
The Kite Runner shows not only the history of a person’s spiritual growth, but also the history of a nation’s soul, the history of a country’s suffering. The significance of the research paper is to make Afghan to be known. The human nature and the way to save human nature described in the novel shake the readers and make them to think more about it.

《追风筝的人》是美籍阿富汗裔作家卡勒德·胡塞尼的第一部小说。该书自2003年6月问世后，得到评论界的广泛关注和好评，被译成40多种文字，全球畅销800万册，创下出版奇迹。小说讲述的是一个身在美国的阿富汗移民阿米尔的童年往事和他成人之后对儿时在故土犯下的错误进行救赎的故事。
本文以《追风筝的人》的文本为研究对象，以文本细读为依托，探讨小说的核心价值——人性的背叛与救赎。本文首先介绍卡勒德·胡塞尼及其创作的《追风筝的人》和背景；其次通过分析小说中所体现的人物性格、特征、成长经历以及故事情节、特点等，结合荣格原型理论分析阿米尔对儿时好友哈桑的背叛以及造成其背叛的原因；最后则从个人的救赎、人类的救赎以及精神的救赎三个不同的角度对小说中所体现“救赎”进行探讨分析。
《追风筝的人》这部小说不仅仅展示了一个人的心灵成长史，也展示了一个民族的灵魂史，一个国家的苦难史。因此对这部小说的研究意义，不仅仅在于让世界了解一个遭受战火蹂躏的、默默无闻的阿富汗民族，更是让读者能进一步思考人性和人性的拯救的问题。
