Abstract：

Mark Twain is an famous American writer, reporter and humorist. His works are no lack of humorous language. As one of his representative works, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer successfully uses many humorous skills. Mark Twain’s unique style of humor can even make us not know whether to laugh or cry when people read the novel. To understand his humor well, we firstly need to know the definition of humor. Next, we should understand the elements and types of humor. This thesis focuses on the humorous language of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, and elaborates on his humorous writing style and its profound impact on the future generations. Finally, it reveals the functions and forms of humor in the literary creation.

马克·吐温，是美国著名作家，记者和幽默家。在他的作品中，幽默无处不在。作为他的代表作之一，《汤姆·索亚历险记》成功运用了许多幽默手法。他小说中的幽默别具一格，令人啼笑皆非。要理解他的幽默，首先要明白幽默的定义。其次要了解幽默的类型。论文着眼于《汤姆·索亚历险记》中的幽默语言分析，具体阐述了马克·吐温的幽默写作风格及其对后世的深远影响，以揭示文学创作中幽默的作用和形式。

Introduction
The Adventures of Tom Sawyer has always been considered as one of the great works of Western literature and civilization, the work criticizes and satirizes on vulgar social customs, hypocritical religious service and inflexible, old and decayed American school education. And its author Mark Twain is a humorist, the brushwork he used is not sharp and pointed. He always uses humorous and ironic language to leave a deeper impression on readers.
Many professors at home and abroad have done research on this book, and most of them prefer to study their practical significance. The famous British dramatist George Bernard Shaw once said: "I never see Mark Twain as a humorist, he is a sociologist." And many experts were in favor of his opinion, because they all have truly felt the pain and dissatisfaction of American people through little Tom and his friend Huck.
However, there is little study on humor in this novel, and the thesis will mainly focus on its humorous accomplishments. When the author gives his readers joy, and he makes them to reflect on themselves, to experience the defect of the rules and regulations at the same time. It has a profound impact on the harmonious development and people's thoughts.The thesis can help the readers understand the style of Mark Twain's humor better.
