Abstract:

English figures of speech are diverse,various and wide in content. They are characterized by fewer words with more meanings,simplicity and profoundness,  vividness and humoursness. In the process of writing ,the writer, in order to deepen the meaning, will often use a variety of writing techniques and different forms of language features which is the treasure of the English Language, and the crystallization of the wisdom of English nations. So in this paper, the author will introduce in detail The Gulag Archipelago full of all kinds of language characteristics.  These language features can be mainly divided into narrative language, dialogue-typed language, descriptive language and argumentative language. The in-depth discussion is based on these four points. This paper is divided into three parts. The first part discusses the author's life, and the formation process of the work to clarify the origin of the writer's thoughts. The second part focuses on language features from the angle of narrative language, dialogue-typed language, descriptive language, and argumentative language illustrated by numerous examples and several kinds of style so as to help us to understand more easily the profound meaning fully conveyed in the novel. The last part is to clarify the value of the works and its influence on later generations.

摘要：

英语的修辞手法多种多样，内容繁多且广泛，具有言少意多，言浅意深，生动形象，幽默风趣，观点鲜明等特点。在写作过程中，为了加深文章深意，作家会使用各种各样的写作手法及形式各异的语言特点，这是英语语言的瑰宝，是英语民族智慧的结晶, 本文将详细介绍《古拉格群岛》所使用的各种语言特点并对之分析。这些语言特点可浅分为叙述性语言，对话性语言，描述性语言和议论性语言，以此四点进行深入探讨。本文共分三部分。第一部分对作者的生平、作品的形成过程作介绍，阐明作者写作思想的起源。第二部分着重进行作品内容的语言特点分析，对叙述性语言，对话性语言，描述性语言和议论性语言进行分类探讨，列举大量例子佐证这几种手法，并穿插解释，帮助我们更容易理解作家所要传达的深意。最后一部分阐明作品的意义以及对后世的影响。

1.Brief introduction of the author
Alexander Solzhenitsyn, from the period of the Soviet Union to present Russia is a outstanding writer, and one of the most famous dissidents in the Soviet period. As the Nobel Prize winner, member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, he has made great achievements in many domains such as literature, history, linguistics. Solzhenitsyn' s 1970 Nobel Prize works "The Gulag Archipelago" makes a big impact in the political and literary world. The novel also lets the brave truth-seeking writer to become one of the greatest writers in the history of Russia, and win him the title of thinker.
