摘要：

玛乔丽亚·尼柯尔森是英国早期侦探小说批评家之一，她带着极其嘉许
的口气肯定侦探小说中所体现的生命意义。侦探中小说隐含着一道异样的精神景观，它甚至比任何一种文类都更靠近神学。本文主要通过研究侦探小说的发展趋势，对比在中西方相似时期人们价值观的异同。论文按照中西方、及历史时期，对侦探小说进行分类，通过比较分析各时期典型侦探小说作家和作品，探究中西方价值观的异同，以实现更好的文化交流目的。

Abstract:

Marjorie Nicholson, one of the early British detective novel critics, thought highly of the meaning of life in detective novels with a commendable tone. Detective fictions certainly imply a strange spiritual landscape, which is closer to theology than any genre. This study expores the the similarities and differences between Chinese and western values by studying the development trend of detective novels. This paper has classified Chinese and western detective stories on the basis of different historical periods. It aims to explore the different cultural values through analyzing the developing trend of detective stories so as to achieve better cross-cultural communication.

1.    Introduction
1.1    Generation of detective fictions
John·Docker said, “The genre of detective novels reflect mainstream social values and pitfalls of the times.” Detective novels have a fixed theme and a specific genre, and the detective in the detective fictions reconstructed the crime scene by tracing clues, in order to firmly control the crime, which shows a special spiritual quality.He is a hero of peace in the hearts of readers. Obviously, modern Chinese detective novel contains rich discourse form, which is a mirror of Chinese modern society and a metaphor of individual life. “As a form of mass culture in modern society, detective fictions play a key role, which provide the reader experience of the modern myth.” I believe that this myth of modernity implies aesthetic experience, ethical values and ultimate meaning.
