摘要

《飘》以亚特兰大以及附近的一个种植园为故事场景，描绘了内战前后美国南方人的生活。在该作品中，玛格丽特·米切尔通过描绘一个反叛传统，坚韧顽强，永不言败，把握机会的形象——郝思嘉，展现了美国梦是如何实现的。郝思嘉经历了很多变故，母亲逝去，父亲痴呆，黑人佣人大都离开，家园满目疮痍……但是不管在何种困难前,坚韧的郝思嘉没有被击倒，她一直乐观积极,不轻易放弃，对未来充满希望，并且能够抓住机会！ 郝思嘉的诸多良好品质也正是美国梦特点的体现！现代中国人可以在实现中国梦的过程中从郝思嘉身上汲取正力量得到有益启示。

Abstract

  The novel, Gone with the Wind, is set in Clayton County, Georgia, and Atlanta during the American Civil War and reconstruction era. It depicts the life of the American southern people before and after the Civil War. In the novel, Mitchell creates a figure who violates the tradition, never gives up and desires for independence, Scarlett. Through the characterization of Scarlett, the classic American Dreamer, Mitchell shows us how the American Dream is realized. In the novel, Scarlett experiences many changes, such as losing her beloved mother, experiencing father’s collapse, house’s being ruined and being abandoned by most black servants. However, whatever difficulties she faces, Scarlett never gives up, and she always holds strong will and can grasp chance to survive any difficulty. The traits Scarlett possesses are just the embodiment of the characteristics of the American Dream. Modern Chinese could learn something good from Scarlett, and get enlightenment from the image of Scarlett to stride toward their own dreams.
