摘要

拜金主义自货币产生之后就萌芽出现，而到了资本主义社会，拜金主义达到了疯狂程度。现在我国市场经济条件下拜金主义也在蔓延。《百万英镑》是马克吐温的短篇小说之一，一直以来备受读者喜爱。这部小说中人们的拜金主义思想十分突出。撰写此文的目的就是通过分析《百万英镑》中的拜金主义现象，来探讨人类的拜金主义思想以及我们应有的价值观和世界观。本人在研究前人成果的基础上，将通过分析研究小说中的人物行为、神态、话语来表现出《百万英镑》主题：讽刺拜金主义。

Abstract

    Money worship appears since currency comes in to being. In capitalist society, money worship has reached the level of craziness. Nowadays, money worship is exist in China under the condition of marketing economy. The Million Pound Note is one of Mark Twain's short stories, which has always been loved by many readers. People's money worship in the novel is very outstanding. The purpose of writing this paper is to discuss the money worship of human-being and what values and world views we should have. It will base on the analysis of the phenomenon of money worship in the Million Pound Note. In the research on the basis of predecessors' achievements, it will analyze and study the behaviors, expression and words of characters in the novel to show the theme of the million pound note: irony of money worship.
