摘要

被称为“第二性”的女人存在于当时十九世纪的英国，时刻都面临存在价值的挑战，而婚姻的完满幸福也正是此价值观的深刻体现。本文以两部经典著作《傲慢与偏见》和《呼啸山庄》为例，研究比较两位作者的婚姻及作品中的婚姻观，对待爱情和婚姻的态度和选择以及命运，即伊丽莎白·班纳特爱情和婚姻相结合的理想状态，和凯瑟琳割裂爱情与婚姻所导致的悲剧命运，认为前者的婚姻观是具有现实意义的，即在一定经济保障的基础之上，爱情在幸福婚姻中占主导地位，而后者是物质化且不理智的。接下来通过对比简·奥斯丁和艾米丽·勃朗特，这两位著名女性作家笔下人物婚姻观的异同点，来阐释造成此差异的原因:主要是生存环境、性格特征和不同程度的女性主义表现。

Abstract

In the 19th century of UK women were regarded as “the Second Sex”, and constantly they were confronted with challenges on their existing value. Thus a happy marriage profoundly reflects the woman’s own value. Taking the two classics Pride and Prejudice and Wuthering Heights for example, this paper studies and compares two writers’ different views of marriage, the characters’ choice of love and marriage, and their different destinies in the novels, i.e. Elizabeth Bennet’s ideal state that love and marriage perfectly combine with each other, and Catherine’s tragic fate which results from separation of love and marriage. The thesis writer points out that the former marriage has practical significance which shows the fact that love plays a leading role in a happy marriage under the basis of economic security. However, the latter one is seriously material and irrational. Then through the comparison in similarities and differences about characters’ views of marriage from the pen of the two famous female writers——Jane Austen and Emily Bronte, the thesis writer elaborates major reasons of the differences, including living backgrounds, personalities and feminism in different degrees.
