摘要

查尔斯·狄更斯是英国最伟大的批判现实主义作家之一。受童年时期家庭环境的影响，狄更斯在小说中非常注重家庭因素。本文旨在研究家庭因素对《远大前程》中的主人公皮普性格发展的影响，从而了解狄更斯个人的家庭观以及家庭因素对个人性格成长的重要性。
文章通过具体分析家长对皮普的教养态度，家庭的社会地位以及家庭的物质生活条件这三个影响因素，展现皮普在家庭因素影响下不同时期所具有不同的性格特征。揭示出家庭因素与个人性格发展紧密联系，因此在教养孩子的过程中，家长应树立正确教育观并构建良好的家庭氛围。

Abstract

Charles Dickens is one of the greatest realistic novelists in Britain. Influenced by his own experience of childhood, he pays much attention to family factors in the novel. The paper intends to study the influence of family factors on the development of Pip’s character in Great Expectations to understand Charles Dickens’ family value as well as the importance of family factors on one’s growth.
Through making a concrete analysis of three factors, namely, parents’ attitude towards Pip, family social status and material conditions of family, the paper shows Pip’s different characters under different circumstances which are influenced by family factors. In conclusion, it reveals that family factors are closely connected with the development of one’s character. So parents should set up right educational views and build the harmonious family atmosphere in the process of upbringing.
