摘要

本论文通过回顾希斯克利夫的一生、分析他的心理来研究其人性复苏这一主题。利用心理学家西格蒙德·弗洛伊德的人格理论来阐述希斯克里夫的种种复仇行为。希斯克里夫与凯瑟琳理想而浪漫的爱情是贯穿《呼啸山庄》整部小说的最重要的线索，但是，现实是残酷的，他们因为所处环境，悬殊身份等原因而不得不分离。也正是因此，激起了希斯克里夫内心深处全部的仇恨。为了报复，他开始了一系列疯狂的复仇行为。在小说中，根据艾米莉·勃朗特的描述，肉体的死亡意味着灵魂的重生。所以，希斯克里夫的死亡便是其人性复苏的表现，也印证了“人性绝不会因扭曲而完全泯灭”这一真理。

Abstract

This thesis aims to study the theme of Heathcliff’s resurrection of humanity, by reviewing his experiences of life and analyzing his psychology. It gives an interpretation on the revenge behaviors of the protagonist by adopting Sigmund Freud’s psychoanalytic theory of personality. The ideal and romantic love of Heathcliff and Catherine is the most important clue throughout the novel. The reality, however, is cruel to them. Heathcliff and Catherine have to be apart because of some reasons such as the environment they live and different social status which trigger the hatred inside his heart. Heathcliff begins a series of crazy revenges on the two families that he believes have ruined his life. In the novel, the death of body means the rebirth of soul as described by the author Emily Brontë. Therefore, Heathcliff’s death is equal to the resurrection of his humanity, just as the truth that the humanity can be distorted but not devoured.
