摘要

《飘》是世界上最畅销的小说之一。它以美国的内战和战后重建为背景，生动讲述了女主人公斯嘉丽在战前、战中和战后的三段婚姻。从这三段婚姻里，读者可以看出斯嘉丽在性格上有明显的不同。在漫长而艰苦的四年战争岁月里，斯嘉丽的人生被重写了。战争把傲慢、跋扈的斯嘉丽重塑成一个坚强、有毅力的女性。经过战争的洗礼，她的形象也变得更加鲜明和生动。作为本小说里最富有吸引力的角色，斯嘉丽拥有多面而且复杂的性格特征，而这些特征在她的三段失败的婚姻里被展现得淋漓尽致，本论文将着重探讨之。

Abstract

Set in the days of the American Civil War and its postwar reconstruction, the novel Gone with the Wind, one of the best-sellers in the world, tells vividly about Scarlet’s three marriages in different periods---before, during and after the war, and her obvious changes in character. In the tough years of the war, Scarlet’s life changes a lot. The war turns an arrogant and imperious Scarlet into a firm and tenacious woman. After the war, her image becomes brighter and vivid. As the most charming character in this novel, Scarlett has a polyhedral and complicated personality, which is manifested vividly and incisively in her three unsuccessful marriages. This paper mainly presents Scarlet O’Hara’s characters based on her three marriages.
