菲茨杰拉德所著《夜色温柔》，因其意义深远而重获其文学地位。本文将对该小说的主题思想，即美国梦的破灭展开讨论。深入分析其破灭的原因以及给人的启示。美国梦的破灭可归结为以下成因：虚荣，理想主义，懦弱，移情及社会等。其给人的启示如下：人应该了解其局限性并以此进行正确的定位；在遭遇矛盾冲突的时候，个人应该保持冷静并勇敢与之面对。

Abstract

Tender is the Night written by Fitzgerald regained its literature status since its far-reaching significance was noticed. Its theme, disillusion of American, is to be discussed in this thesis with in-depth analysis of its causes and its enlightenment. It could be concluded that the causes to its disillusion are vanity, idealism, cowardice，transference, society, etc. As for its enlightenment, this thesis advises that people should be aware of their limitation and orientate them rightly. And meanwhile, they are supposed to be calm and brave when confronting conflicts.
