Stylistic Features of Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods

摘要

《联合国国际货物销售合同公约》（以下简称《公约》）的达成，减少了国际贸易的法律障碍，促进了国际经济新秩序的形成，在国际贸易中具有重要意义。本文结合《公约》具体规定，对其文体特征进行了分析。本文从词汇特征、句法特征以及语篇特征三个方面展开，分别介绍了《公约》中的古体词、法律术语、模糊限定语、以及同义词重复等词汇特点；条件状语、陈述句的使用等句法特点；语法衔接、词汇衔接等语篇特点。同时本文以《公约》为基础，对法律英语中常见的语言现象及特点进行了简要总结。

Abstract

The United Nations Convention On Contracts For The International Sale Of Goods (hereafter CISG) decreased legal barriers in international trade and propelled the establishment of new international economic order. Based on specific articles, this paper analyzes the stylistic features of CISG which include lexical features, syntactical features and textual features. The first chapter introduces the employment of legal archaisms, legal terms, hedges, and the repetition of words with similar meaning. The second chapter introduces the employment of adverbial clause of condition and declarative sentences. The third chapter introduces grammatical cohesion and lexical cohesion. In the meanwhile, based on the analysis of CISG, this paper briefly summarizes the common phenomenons and characteristics of legal English.
