On Translation of President Kennedy’s Inaugural Address From the Perspective of Skopos Theory

摘要

英语公开演讲的翻译，不仅要求对演讲文本的词汇和句法层面的语言特点进行分析，而且要求译者应该根据原文作者对译者提出的显性和隐形的要求以及不同的交际目的来灵活地采取翻译策略。目的论作为重要的翻译理论，强调翻译应该从译者、原文作者和受众者角度考虑，以满足不同主体的翻译要求和目的。本论文以目的论为理论框架，以《肯尼迪就职演讲》的翻译文本为例，通过大量的译例分析，指出目的性原则，连贯性原则和忠实性原则对《肯尼迪就职演讲》翻译的重要指导意义，期望通过探究目的论在公共演讲的英译汉过程中的应用和指导作用，从而为提高公共演讲翻译质量提供理论依据和指导。

Abstract

Depending on the linguistic features of the public speech, the translators are required to meet different translation requirements. Under different translation requirements and communicative purposes, the translator should take feasible translation skills no matter what the explicit translation and implicate translation. Only in this way can they do a better version and improve the translation quality. As the key of the translation theory, skopos theory highlights the requirements and purposes of the translators, speakers and the audience. Under the guidance of the skopos theory, this paper takes many examples from Kennedy’s Inaugural Address to study the significance of the skopos principle, coherence principle and fidelity principle in guiding and application in their translation.
